Meridian 1 - Option 81C - Has anyone had issues with a 3900 series phone "rebooting" during a conference call? It may not be the phone, but at no specific time during a conference call the display will go blank and then come back up. The call is still in progress, but let's say the mute button was on, but after the "reboot" it's not. I am going to start by replacing the phone, then move it to a different TN, but just wanted to get a feel from the field. Phone? Conf TDS? Line Card? Thank you in advance.

You should have done all that before even posting.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

we have 1000's of 3904's in service without that problem.. be sure to download the phone so the firmware matches the switch

Since my conference calls are not regularly scheduled, I was trying to head the problem off. My thinking was that if someone else had the problem and got it fixed, then I would not have to wait to see if my "fix" worked. I thought this was what forums are for.....

The firmware is current with the switch. I actually had a poor guy go in before we put our latest thirty in service and update all of them.

The purpose of this forum is to help when you have tried fixing the problem and haven't been able to. If everyone posted there problems before trying to fix it themselves, no one would ever learn how to troubleshoot on there own and never learn anything.

i agree ace.. i also wonder if that "poor guy" was smart enough to schedule all the downloads to run after midnight routine.. and just stay home

I researched all I could find on conference calls before starting to move instruments or TNs around. I was maybe thinking that if it was a time threshold somewhere, you smart people could clue me in on it. I will now go back to the simple task of swapping and moving since I didn't get any relevant data here.

As for Mr Ace, it would do you good to distinguish between "there" and their"

Mr Poole,
I tried the midnight mass update, but it didn't work and then I read IN THIS FORUM from several people that it had bugs. One at a time always works. Plug it in, type the command, and do something else while it runs.

And another thing, I am responsible for the phones, LAN, and other wireless systems on this installation. This forum has been a lifesaver for me several times. I highly regarded both of your postings.......until today.

If my spelling offends you, please note in your next post for help, that you only want people that know how to spell correctly and use the right form and grammer to reply. I didn't know I was being graded on my English. SNOB

I also see you only come here to get free help and never give any, you've been a menber since feb 3, 2006 and have only logged in 24 times and asked for help 7 times and have never helped anyone else.

I'm glad to see that you have plenty of free time to research my activity. It would have really been nice to have used some of that free time to maybe send a reasonable answer instead of the "I'm better than you-don't waste my time" answer I got. We could have avoided all this wasted typing.

Yes, you are better than me.....that is why I come to this source. If there was to be a thread pop up that I could answer, I'd be so excited I'd knock somebody over getting to the keyboard. I have a radio background and am also trained in Network Infrastructure. I inherited the phone switch by default. So, I hope that you can see that I have a lot on my plate and appreciate any help I get.

By the way, there was a conference call while I was out taking care of other issues. I asked the host to swap out 3903s with a new one. He didn't have any problems today. He has two calls tomorrow, so I'll know if it was the phone for sure then.

Have a great day!

I don't think I'm better then you, but I just hate when people come here for free help and don't give back anything except lip. If your to lazy to help yourself, why should I or anyone else. at least you should have swapped out the phone if nothing else.

I understand your point, but I just don't see how asking for advise seven times in the last two and a half years deems me as lazy. O.K., I should have changed out the phone before posting, but I was barking up the wrong tree in thinking it had something to do with the whole "conference" concept. But, won't anyone searching for conference help be pointed to this thread? What ever happened to the old cliche of, "There's never a stupid question..."? I may not have answered anyone on this forum, but I have used the info to answer questions from my co-workers and friends. I have highly recommended this sight to several.
If monetarily funding this site is a requirement, then make it so. Please give me a breakdown of users as compared to payers. If it is over 50%, then I will be guilted out of using the site. On the other hand, why would I want to join this site when I get replies like you gave me?

Unreal..... no wonder we have wars and shootings....

The point I'm trying to make is I come here every day and I give help to every question if the user has made an attempt to help themselves. I do this for free as I used to get help on somethings myself.

I can't believe how bent out of shape you got over my

I couldn't give you any help because you didn't try to fix the problem and I know idea where the problem might be. I would have told you to do all the things you

As it could have been any of those things.

johnpoole and I are the 2 TOP adviser's on this forum and we spend alot of time helping people everyday. You should try coming here more often and read the questions and see if you can help some else.

Please allow me to apologize. I went from professional to personal way too quick (however, it was not until the 5th or 6th reply until I got irked). With all I have to do here, I didn't take too kindly to being called lazy.

The short answer to my problem is the phone. Don't ask me why. I will use the new phone for a few conference calls and then swap back to the old phone and try to recreate the problem.

As for helping, I will do my best to log in more often and see if there is any knowledge I can bestow.

By the way, there was nothing wrong with your signature, Mr. Ace.
