Greetings all. Been a while since I've had to bother anyone here. Hope the wizards are still available to answer questions.

working with 81C, release 5.5
I have an analog conference phone that, in the middle of a live call, the PBX operator suddenly barges in as though she's answering an incoming call. Which, on her side, she is.
Any idea what the heck can be causing that?

Sounds like their has to be more to the story. So you are saying the analog phone has a conference up, no one is touching the speakerphone, then all of a sudden the operator gets an incoming call and it is the conference that is happening on the analog set? Correct? I would be curious to know what other buttons light up on the console when this happens and what the display on the console says.

thanks man

she says it appears to come up on her console as a regular four digit extension. that's all, no other alerts or indicators. and the call has been in progress long enough that it's not another caller trying to tie in. And no one is messing with the soundstation in any way.

I thought it might have been a trunk issue at one time and so changed the DID (though not the TN) and yet, six months later it happens again.

Post a print out of the set, maybe something will jump out

The user of the conference phone is hitting the link button or whatever is the equivalent of a hook switch flash. The phone is configured as XFD and your system is programmed to send that call to the operator.

I think gwebster is right on point with this, my thoughts exactly. I would also change CLS to C6A and in FTR put PHD.

From the Features and Services NTP:

The Restricted Call Transfer feature provides the Call Transfer Restricted
(XFR) Class of Service for analog (500/2500 type) telephones. By assigning
XFR Class of Service in LD 10, a call transfer attempt will not result in action.
This is different from the Call Transfer Denied (XFD) Class of Service, which
will route the call to the attendant when a transfer is attempted.

So if you want the analog conference phone to be able to do a transfer/conference:
- change it to XFA
If you do NOT want the analog conference phone to be able to do a transfer/conference and you want to stop any attempt from going to the attendant:
- change it to XFR

but no one new is calling in to the existing conference at the time, and it's been going for at least 20 minutes at the time. Nor are they pressing any buttons on the conference phone when it happens. they simply suddenly have an operator asking how she can handle their call because, according to her console, there's an incoming call.

and I should also point out, there is no other caller trying to reach the operator. It's not like someone is actually calling the conference line and getting bounced to the console.

The CS 1000 is seeing a short interruption in the loop which it is considering as a switchhook flash and sending it to the operator since CLS = XFD. Change it to CLS XFA and see if they get dialtone in the middle of the conference call. Or change it to CLS XFR if you do not want them to do a transfer or conference at all.

I agree that it looks like there is an intermittent short somewhere. It could be the line card or anywhere in the wire from the switch all the way to the base cord of the phone. or even the phone for that matter. Since this appears to be in your admin conf room , I would change everything: TN, cross-connect, pair to the IDF, base cord, even the pair of wire in the wall to the conf room. then trouble shoot the problem (without admin watching over your shoulder)
