I have a site that the transfer button works fine, the problem is when they try to use the Conf/tran button nothing happens. I had 3 people try it on there phones and it doesn't work on there either. I t there away to turn Conf ability on and off for every phone. I checked the programming on all the phones and I even moved the Conf/Tran button to another key.

Have they got 2 intercom keys?

They need to have 2 intercom keys to create a conference

Marshall

Yes they have 2 intercom key's, why would transfer work but not Confercence????

What feature are you programming on the buttons? I always found the conf/tran button on 7310’s confusing for customers. Conf is feat 3, and you should get “make second call” on the display after pressing it. What are they getting the on the display? On the other hand (blind) transfer is feat 70.

It is key 6 on there 7316, it is programmed as Conf/Tran Feature 3. this happens on all phones, but Transfer key works fine. I called her and had her try to Conference me to her cell phone and when she does, I don't get put on hold and I heare the DTMF as she tries to dial her cell phone. If she does a Tranfer it works without any problem.

I am not trying to be smart arse but are you sure the customer is doing it correctly.

Marshall

I had 5 different user try it, and you do a transfer and a conference the same way. she hits the conf key and nothing happens, hits tran and I'm put on hold. doesn't make sense to me.

I think the customer is forgetting to put you on hold first.

She answers your call.

She then needs to put you on hold

Dial the cell phone number

The press the conference/transfer key

Then press the intercom key you are held on.

If the key does not work has she tried feature 3.

Marshall

If you are hearing the DTMF- I think she is just hitting conf, then dialing the number. I think she is missing the step of picking a second line or a second IC if using routing/ pool codes.

I just tested this on my test bed as I have never had this problem before and I don't use the BCM as we have an Option 11C here. On the test bed from ext 221 I dial ext 222 ans from ext 221 i hit the soft key under the display, then I dial ext 223 and I get Join, Cancel and Retry. If I hit Join it works fine. So what do I need the programmed Tran/conf ket for????

Thanks for your time and answers

NORTEL as always, they don't make any sense.

The softkey under the display is the same as feat70, which is blind transfer. Blind transfer does not allow for 3 parties to connect. It just transfers the call somewhere else. So you don’t need a transfer (feat70) button on most phones.

But for 3 way calls, you do need conference key, which is feat3

Senks gives a good detail on conf calling here...

I don’t have a system in front of me, but from memory I think this also works:
•While on an active call, press conference. (this will automatically put the call on hold.)
•The display will read “make second call,” at which point you would select another line, or another IC, and make the second call.
•The display will read “press held line.” Once you do, the calls should be conferenced (3 parties connected together.)

It works easier the way I said and it does work for 3 way as all you have to do is hit JOIN and you have a 3 way conf, or just hangup and the call is transfered.

I learn something new every day, ain't it just great.

Huh? Join is supposed to work the same as the release button, meaning join the incoming caller with the person you are transfering to.

Will on my system I get a 3 way conf, but I still want to know why the conf/tran button doesn't work on any phone.

What is the system you are referring to where "join" creates a 3-way, and conf/trans does not work?

Did you follow the steps listed above by Marshall and myself? What end results do you get when following those steps

And if anyone else gets a 3-way by pressing "join" after transfer, please let me know. If there is a new way to create a conf call, I want to know. I also want to know since a lot of receptionists I train use the "join" key to finalize the transfer.

acewarlock- do you have a key on your phone programmed for transfer (F70)? Not the softkey under the display, but an actual key?

I have a tran key F70 and a cong/tran key F3.

when I press the soft tran key under the display I get dial tone and the caller is put on hold, I dial the number of the person I want to do the transfer to. when they answer I can hit JOIN and I have a 3 way conversion.
