I have external Modem with DSl connection. I have connection to one of my computers but i want to connect it so both have the internet connection.I have all the cables needed and the EtherFast Cable/DSL Router with 4 open slots on the back.

Here is what i tried , from the Modem the T-10 base cable connected to the Router and then from the router 2 cables one to each comp but it didnt connect. Also i only had the instaklled software on 1 computer and not the other could this be the problem?

Please if you have any ideas to give me to try and to make this work please let me know.

thanks,

Slavisa

If this is a dsl modem that is dynamic you can install a hub
that is connected to the 2 pc's and run a program called winpoet 2.0 . This will allow you to have both pc's up at one time. You can also install a modem to a linksys router and run NAT to the LAN. Jeter@LasVegas.com

I'm running a slightly different config as yours but should work the same. I am running a Cisco675 external DSL router, the commander(management) software is running off my main machine. The DSL line goes into the router, I then have a cat5 patch cable running from the router to a 10/100 switch(you can also use any ethernet dumb hub as well), from the hub I then connect my two machines. I have both of my machine to obtain IP from the DHCP server...the DHCP server is in fact the Cisco router (it has DHCP server functions). My internal network stays on a closed 10.x.x.x internet illegal addresses, but the Router also acts as a gateway, and acts as the instigator of all internet traffic, and I've even had 4 simultaneous individual internet connections, with 10 machines working on the backplane of the internal network addressing. Just read the router manual, and it might give you some similar details.

That will work on a private network running DHCP and NAT from the router. Jeter@LasVegas.com
