I have a report with multiple columns and I need to place a index tab on the edge of the upper right hand corner for odd pages and the upper left for even pages. I understand how to conditionally have it switch back and forth via different page headers and conditional suppression, etc., but my issue is the margins. The odd pages were not a problem because even with the right column at 0, the columns would stay put and I could easily put the index tab where it needed to be, however the left column is impossible. If I change the left margin to 0, obviously everything moves to the left edge of the page. With a regular report, I would have no problem because I could simply manually move the fields over, but since I have columns, it moves all the columns over and creates an inch of space between each column. Does anyone know any tricks to get around this problem. Any help at all is greatly appreciated!!

Not exactly sure what you're asking for.

Do you need the columns to shift back and forth depending upon whether it's an odd or even page number?

One way is to right click the details and select insert section below.

Now lassoo allof the fields in the current detailsand select Ctrl-C (copy).

Now select Ctrl-V and place them in the lower details section aligned for the other page layout.

Now right click each detail section and select format section andin the X2 next to suppress place:

remainder(pagenumber,2)= 0

andin the other details suppression use:

remainder(pagenumber,2)<> 0

I guess that's what you want...

To be more specific about my exact issue, I have a box in the page header that's aligned all the way to the left. I want it to print at the very edge of the page. The groups and details sections are in multiple columns, 4 to be exact. The page header is set to underlay the following sections, so currently the groups and details sections are on top of the box in the page header because the margin is set for .5 for the left margin and obviously because of this, the box is not at the very edge of the page. If I decrease the margin to 0, the problem remains the same, but everything, including the columns in the groups and details sections, are at the edge of the page. So, idealy, I would like the margin of .5 to only apply to the groups and details section, and not the page header. If I try to manually indent the groups and details sections, all of the columns shift, rather then just the column to the left.
