Hi,
I need to have a text box background colour changed based on the value of another text box.
Example:

the text box 'partno' turns red when text box 'availablity' shows obsolete

orange when text box 'availablity' shows limited

and no colour when text box 'availablity' shows available.

Any ideas ?

In the conditional formatting thingie on the format menu, chose "expression is", enter the expression; [availability]="obsolete", do the format, repeat the process for limited ...
