Concentrator to pix vpn problems with smtp

I have a concentrator 3015 with a lan to lan with a pix 501.
SMTP traffic will need to go from 3015 to a exchange 2003 server on the other side of the pix 501. I have all gates and ports open on this lan to lan. But i can not get smtp traffic across the vpn. Is there something else i need to do?

This might sound basic and forgive me if i offend you, but have you verified routing on the LAN at the 3015 side?

yes it has no problem finding the server. on the 3015 side if I telnet hostname 25 I get this as a return

turn off PIX mail guard.
