is it possible with Delphi to take a passed string parameter and combine it with string variables (or directly with other strings) then turn that string concatenation into a command, that is a working line of code instead of a long string that doesn't do anything?

AFAIK, no.

but there are some delphi script parsers out there.

here's an excellent one, (I'm using it myself) called Delphi Web Script :

Thanks Daddy. What are the benefits of a script parser? Do you use it when writing code?

Delphi web script for example has the strength that you can use Delphi language in webpages. In some cases adding script capability can be very useful (think of vbscript in the msoffice programs). In your case you can use it to parse/compile/execute your concatenated string...

WRT the OP, think about it... Delphi is a compiled language. By the time your program is executing, it's outside the context where source code has any meaning.
