Slightly different issue than Clumsy...
Replaced motherboard in my system. Also upgraded RAM to DDR since the upgraded mb would no longer take PC133. Processor is an Athlon XP 1800. ATX 300w power supply. Computer won't turn on. Replaced the motherboard, added the ram, prcessor, heatsink, fan, and powersupply and can't get it to boot. Power light comes on the motherboard, but that's all. Replaced power supply with another 300w and doesn't help.

Any ideas?

Test it outside the case with minimal hardware. Test the parts in another computer if you can.

I did test with miminal hardware (motherboard, cpu, ram, and power supply). I did try the motherboard with a new power supply as well.

Any other suggestions?

So you replaced the MOBO and the power supply. Next would be the RAM then the CPU.

RAM is new and CPU worked fine in old motherboard.

Any other suggestions?

If you have four parts and all are good by themselves then check to see if they are all compatable together.

If standby power (light on M/B) and power supply doesn't come up with power switch you have either bad power switch, the switch is on the wrong pins, or you have a bad M/B.
Stanby power is there to give the current to get the P/S up.

Suspect , but have never tried it, that the power should come up with, or without, the processor and ram.

You could try shorting the power switch pair of pins with a screwdriver blade.

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

I know this might sound stupid, But are you sure the RAM is inserted all the way in the slot.

Not clear to me whether you tried the motherboard outside of the case as suggested.
