One of the users computers is freezing entering the desktop. The hourglass shows up but there are no error messages. Doing CTRL ALT DEL doesn't give many clues but after a while Explorer is not responding. Could it be a bad explorer.exe ??

thanks

What OS? Boot into safe mode and check what is in the startup...maybe something there is causing the problem...

98SE..when the user goes to lunch i'm checking it out. Also think it might be a startup program. I'll let you know.

* Boot in Safe Mode and take all unessential programs off startup.
* Defrag the computer.
* Upgrade the RAM.
* When was this computer first built?..i.e. when was Windows put on it? If its been over a year I'd highly recommend backing up all important info, format and reinstall.

If you need any more info let me know...

Rgds
