I just recently reformated my computer and put a fresh xp on it but, now my computer will not recogize the video card i have in the slot. Whats stranger is that i will put in the cd that installs all the devices and drivers for my card and it gives me an error message stating "There is no correct device for this cd" So what i came here to ask is if anyone can possibly tell me how to resolve this issue i have all my comp specs and i will tell them if you request me to. Thanks in advance for the help

If you pull the vid card, can you still bootup? If so, you may have to disable the onboard video in BIOS setup before you can install the new card.

yeah if i pull the nvidia card that im trying to install out of the slot i can still boot up. What i was thinking on doing was seeing if i could uninstal the built in video card in the device manager and see if i can instal the card from there. Im not really sure if my bios are blocking it or not seeing as how i really dont know what to look for in there

Your nvidia card is conflicting with the onboard video. You should have instructions that came with your system on how to turn the onboard video off in the bios.

If you have no instructions and you can can get into the bios (usually the F1, F2, F10 or DEL key will get you into the bios), look around for something that says Display or AGP (assuming it is an agp card) or video, video display etc. If it says enabled, disable it, look at the bottom of the screen to tell you how to change the settings. Usually the page up and page down or arrow down to the entry and press the "enter" key, then arrow to either enable to disable.

Hope this helps.
