Hi, I seem to be having an issue with computers going into standby mode. I login to the local admin account on one of these computers. The monitor is set to never turn off, same thing for the hardrives and the same for the standby option. These computers are in a domain. If I close the administrator session and wait a certain period of time, the computer will go in standby mode. The power button will begin to flash and the users have to press this button to wake up the computer... I looked in the bios to see if there were any options related to this and found nothing. Any suggestions??

Right-click the Desktop and select 'Properties' from the context menu. Select the 'Screen Saver' tab. Is the option "On resume, password protect" checked off? If so, then uncheck this option and select 'OK'.

How to use Powercfg.exe to create a Group Policy object for power schemes in Windows XP

EZ GPO
EZ GPO is a free tool for network administrators who run Windows Active Directory and manage client workstations using Group Policy Objects (GPOs). EZ GPO provides Group Policy Objects for centrally configuring power management settings, as they are not native in Windows 2000 or XP.

Several of forums such as the ones below show that unchecking this option has proven to resolve this issue, even when all of the power options have been set not to enter standby.
