PC has started freezing, every minute for about 10 seconds. Can move mouse but start button etc and any apps are frozen. Scanned with various av's and spyware tools, all clean. What could be causing this?

Check in TaskManager wich process uses most of the CPU time.
Click twice on the CPU tab, so the most 'consuming' gets on top.

I have 21 services running, you have 15 more.
Maybe you should cut down on some of them. Maybe your AVENGINE service is conflicting with some of the server services you have.
Such as :
PAVSRV51.exe, HOTSYNC.exe, PavPrSrv.exe, CTSVCDA.exe, MsPMSPSv.exe, dolserve.exe

Are you sure you need these services ? Are you sure you know what they are ?

Pascal.

PAVSRV51.exe, HOTSYNC.exe, PavPrSrv.exe, CTSVCDA.exe, MsPMSPSv.exe, dolserve.exe

The AVengine will be panda anti-virus that I've just installed. But the problem has been on the pc for days, only just installed panda yesterday.
Assume PAVSRV51 is panda also. Hotsync is just a palm sync service, CTSVCDA I've no idea, MsPMSPSv and dolserve I've no idea either.
Doing another av scan now using trendmicro online scanner. So I take it the two rundll's are not a good sign??

You could probably check MSConfig (type it in the Run panel) and make sure that only the programs you deem indispensable are indeed launched on boot.

Anything you are not sure you need, remove (uncheck), then reboot and find out if you still have the functionality you need.

Pascal.

Did you kill all the ones I listed?
Some may not go away, but try that anyway.
If the problem persists, it is not one of thos, if it goes away, you will need to work by elimination, that is, kill half of the list and see, and so on.

Am running spybot at the min, it seems to be finding stuff other programs haven't. It clears them but then finds more on reboot! Once it's done I'll try the elimination of processes if still a prob, then defrag.

The two instances of rundll - this isn't popping up as a prob when running av or spybot - is it definitely a prob do you think?

rundll32 is used by other apps to start, by themselves they are not a problem.

But didn't you say above that two of them in task manager is not a good sign?

Well I've killed everything with spybot and scanned to death for viruses. I've killed every process in taskmanager one by one and still the problem is here. What could it be?

First, establish if it is a hardware or software issue. This is easy enough to do; start up in safe mode and see if you still have the problem.

Then, (just because I'm a methodical kind of person) use msconfig to turn off everything, then one-by-one turn them back on. When the problem starts to re-appear, you know you've found it.

Just my $.02

Had similar problem when I was logged on internet, not found that part but it started doing when not logged on.
I had an internet photo as background, changed back to desert Island theme and seems to have stopped see if it has any effect, or try another theme.
I tried ever spyware and BHO basters I could find with no luck.
Also I believe a fault with memory can cause this problem or maybe graphics card memory.

BigMrC, I said them being there is not a good sign indeed, but I did NOT say they were bad by themselves.

Analogy: If 2 police officers are at your door, that can be a bad sign, that does not make them bad ;-)

I did not read all the text above, but check your RAM and CPU first. I tend to stick with hanging being a hardware problem. If it's not that uninstall webshots - I hate it! I always get customers with problems resulting from webshots hogging memory or trying to connect for new pictures!
