I just replaced my hard drive with a new one and had every thing running fine ,one week later everything starts to freeze. So I reformatted hard drive and tried to reload operating system and the computer wont keep running long enough (keeps freezing)to load the complete O.S.. I tried exchanging the power supply with a new one but still the same problem. please help with any solutions.

Thanks,
Coachbart

It's hard to pin the problem down when the system is just freezing. However if your PC was running fine before hand then I would have to say it is more than likely your new hard drive. Can you take it back to the shop and exchange it?

I was getting the blue screen of death before I changed the hard drive. And the freezeing problem started then.

In that case it sounds like a ram problem. Check out the links that linney provided.

However as you can not even install windows It is not going to help too much. Do you have some spare RAM you can try? IF not do you have any friends who would be willing to lend you some.

The Ram checking programs (and drive diagnostics) are used as a self bootable floppy disk and do not need an operating system to run. You will need a working operating system to download and setup the floppy disk.
