Whenever I attempt to use the transform image tool under Edit in any of its modes (distort,rotate, skew, etc.), my computer locks up. I have reinstalled the program and the tool may function as many as one to three times, but then the freeze problem reappears. Any suggestions?

It certainly was not a stupid comment, because indeed it was the scatch disk. I had not yet checked the scratch disk even though it was on my troubleshooting list.
When I received your comment, I immediately checked it and sure enough that was the problem. Thank you Thom.
