Hello,
I am having a problem getting the XP computer accounts onto AD. I want to use Roaming Profiles and manage computers centrally from the Server.
I tried to create a computer account for COMPUTERA on the AD manually, I have set the DNS settings etc on COMPUTERA correctly, but the trust between COMPUTERA and the DOMAIN is not there. You can tell this by accessing the properties of the computer account and seeing if AD knows its Operating system and DNS suffix, if these details are in the properties then the computer account has been generated successfully.
The only way which works, is taking the computer off the domain and put it into a workgroup. THEN put the computer back onto the domain. BUT when I do this I loose the users profile, and the profile becomes UNKNOWN and corrupt.
We are using personal profiles, so I cannot setup a mandatory profile, nor can I use the USMT function as it is not a fresh XP install. USMT wont work correctly if profiles already exist, access to Outlook datafiles become corrupt if I use this function.
Is there any other way I can get the computer account onto AD?
Thanks
Phil
