compress/zip sql backups

Hi,

Is it ok to compress/zip a sql backup .bak or .trn file?

My concern is regarding corruption or loss of data, etc.

Yes it is ok. I do it all the time.
But you will most likely have to zip them from the command line as winzip has a 4 gb limit.

I'll get a 30 GB backup down to about 6 GB.
