Even though my website host providers have front page extensions installed, the inabiltiy for my component hit counters to show up in them still baffles me.Has anybody had any kind of success with installing those counters, and if so,just let me know how.

I've done this with no problem at all. What's the URL and I'll have a look and see if I can spot anything.

I have also tried using a hitcounter on our Intranet it it fails to work. Do i need any other software or applications

Are you publishing to a server with all the Front Page Extensions installed?

Well here is the URL that you requested:

As you will see all it says is just "hit counter"
I was curious if the component hit counter has its own "class files" I couldn't see any, usually you have to upload those seperately.

ezrider,
This is what I found on your site with the hit counter -

Code:
[URL unfurl="true"]http://crystalcreations1.com/3Dart/_vti_bin/fpcount.exe/C:/My%20Documents/My%[/URL]

It looks like it is still connected to your C:\My Documents\My (something or other, probably My Webs)

The %20 is a place holder for a space in the name and doesn't mean anything...but the path should probably be something like...
Code:
[URL unfurl="true"]http://crystalcreations1.com/3Dart/_vti_bin/fpcount.exe/?Page=_borders/bottom.htm|Image=4|Digits=5[/URL]

Are you doing your edits locally (opening your site from c:\My Documents\My Webs\crystalcreations1) and then ftping them back to the site? Try opening the site from the web ( in FrontPage first and when you click on the save icon, it will save to your web and then when you publish, it will finally save it back to your hard drive. At least for Hit Counters in FrontPage I found this method to work everytime. If I edit locally, and then try and publish it back to my website or upload it with an FTP program, I don't get all of the FrontPage files in the right place.

Yeah, I'm afraid your right, the dam thing won't work with ftp. On top of that, I have descrepancy issue with my hosting provider, that keeps on assuring me that I have FP extenstions installed, even though my FP won't publish at all and advises me to go back to ftp.

If your ISP is advising you to FTP your Front Page website to the server then I suggest it's time you get yourself a new ISP as they obviously don't have a clue what they are talking about.

mcvpjd3, I have run into a few clueless ISP's in my time. I was using one in the Phoenix AZ area that didn't have a clue about security. On one occasion I went in to several web pages (other company sites) using FrontPage (password? what password? we don't need no stinkin password) to correct misspelled words and clean up problems. I then e-mailed all my corrections along with a comment to please lock down all sites. My question or request was answered with "password required to view this site". I couldn't believe it. I know of another case where I can FTP into a web and then drill up the directory tree to see all of the other webs hosted on that particular server. At least they figured out how to put an end to editing individual files. But they still don't have a clue how to lock down a directory.

So ezrider... I totally agree with mcvpjd3... it's time to shop around!

Hey your both right !!! guess what ??? did exactly what you guys told me to do, and now I have a website that runs perfectly fine......including FP component hit counters!BUT....I still have one more question: In the hit counter properties dialog box there are only 5 styles to choose from,so can I modify in any way (color, size) those numerical digits,by foolin around with the custom picture input form? and if so just how?

The easiest way is to import new counter object. There are a few websites around that you can download them from, unfortunately I don't have any to hand at the moment but if I remember any I'll post them here.

OK, OK I know this post is a tad bit old...but THANK YOU sierraonsite! You rock!
