Can I completely remove the ability to use Offline files via Group Policy on XP Pro?

Thanks very much.

Thanks - I've tried enabling "do not automaticlly make redirected folders available offline" but I don't think that's done it. If I also enable "remove make available offline" will that do it please?

Thanks mikiemov.

look at \computer config\administrative templates\network\offline files.

And particularly the first policy "Allow or disallow use of the offline files feature". There are also quite a few other setting there which may help.

Also, on the file server itself..you can disable the offline files by right clicking the share, properties, sharing then amend the offline files settings.

There is no such policy.

This is not true, nor even closely resembling the truth.

Well thanks for that informal post, without flaming - do you want to enlighten me ?

I am as we speak looking at the GPO mmc (granted its using AD) the location above there it says "Allow or disallow use of the offline files feature" ??

Secondly, erm there is..im also looking at it !

Thanks for your help on this guys. To be honest though mikiemov I'm also looking at the AD GPO on a 2000 Server machine from an XP Pro Client and I can't see it!

If you are on a 2000 dc, you can right click the shared folder, proerties, sharing, caching, then select desired option ??

Mike

Yes, but I want to set it for all users by default if possible.

Just an idea, but depending on the number of shared folders on your network this is also an option ??

Mike,

Thanks - never know when my managers going to plug in another server though!

he does it more often than you'd think.
