Is there a way to compile a report that will allow me
not to have to install any client software to view the
exe file??
I am running Crystal Reports 7.0
Right now I have compile a report which gives me 3 files.
.exe, rtf and another file. But if you double click on
the exe machine that doesn;t have atleast a small client installed it won't open.

Any ideas. Or do I need to install the client on each pc.

Thanks
PEter

No. You can use the Report Distribution Expert. It's right under the Compile report option in V7.

You have to install software one way or the other.
The report distribution expert crates a "setup.exe"
with about 3mb of info.

The user has to install that one time to set up the *.dll
files.

The only why you can do what you want is to publish the reports to the web via a web server. But then you must deal with Crystal licensing, etc.

If you just want to VIEW the output, you can export it to something like Word or HTML. To RUN the report you will need an engine, like the distribution expert. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting
