Hi

I have Compaq Proliant 1600 server with Smart Array Controller 221 with RAID 5 configuration. This array is connected internally to 3 x 9GB HDD storage.
Now I want to add 2 x 9 GB HDDs to these sets. I am told that Array Controller 221 will not support to add these new HDDS to the existing RAID 5 control. How should I do this ?

Please reply.

Thanks

Hi

I want to add the new HDDs in to the old Array set itself and I was told to create a new Array set and add these new HDDs. Is it not possible to add to the existing
RAID 5 Array set-up. ?

Thanks

It probably is possible to expand your array.. but you can't expand your logical drive.. you need to create a new logical drive and add the newly created free space with some 3d party tool to your current windows partitions if you want that..
