Power pin connected to the board has broken off. Does any one know if this can be repaired? If so, how ?

You can open it and solder it or a jumper wire if you're handy. Be careful not to lose screws, and use a ground strap so as not to zap the boards with ESD. Compaq has a diagram on their web site as to how to disassemble these, if you search and find it.

Hey Newposter thanks for the lead....I found it after looking for days now......once you gave me the lead I looked even harder in compaq site and yes it shows you how to remove all the parts one at a time.

No problem. Had a 1260 once, like many of these, the battery charging circuit on the motherboard died and it would only run on the DC adapter.
Be very careful with the fragile connectors such as the flex display cable and the HD and CD cables, make sure everything's plugged in evenly and tight before re-assembly.
