I have purchased a compaq ipaq and cannot seem to synchronize with my gourpwise calendar. Is there a way to accomplish this task? Is the compaq windows CE program and outlook calendar that comes with the ipaq compatible in any way with groupwise?

I spent quite some time on this.

Novell seems to think this works, however I tried
and even used puma sycn program. The problem
seems to Microsoft activesync, or that Microsoft
put in bug to make sure it does not work. One of the people
that I was doing this for, came from Compaq and had a friend
who works with Micorsoft which was able to get me a non-public document that says that active sync will not
work with Groupwise message transport. I even tried
Groupwise Outlook plugin.

I was able to get around this, because the two people who had these ipaqs, didn't want to use the groupwise client.
So I removed Groupwise client, and I might of removed Office and reinstalled. I then reinstalled office, setup
outlook as internet mail only, and had them pop and smtp to
the groupwise post office on those machines.

Microsofts solution was to migrate them to Exchange !!!!!

I am using Intellisync from PumaTech on about 200 IPAQ's with GroupWise 5.5 and I have no problems whatsoever. You can download a timebombed trial of Intellisync from that way you can try it for yourself before you lay out any money. If you have any problems, let me know.

How did you get the IPAQ to work?
Pumatiech's site states:

* Support is available only for Palm platform-compatible handhelds.
Please note: Groupwise 5.5.4 and 5.5.4.1 require an additional update which can be downloaded from Groupwise 5.5.4 requires gw55puma.exe. Version 5.5.4.1 requires gweppuma.exe.

Details please details

I don't have an IPaq, but I do have a HP Jornada that uses the CE os. I had a couple of issues as well, but they were generally with the serial connection to the device.

I installed active sync and go it to work with sharing a folder. ONce that was working I installed Puma Intellisync on the PC. It worked fine for everything except mail, which I am told will not sync at this time. I think there may be a work-around for that using the GW Outlook client and Active sync, but I don't really care about email so I haven't investigated it.
