We dont have a policy of what users can load onto their computers, but if they load stuff that conflicts with company software and I gotta keep coming to fix it, I've told users... "I'm not coming up here again to fix your machine with that software on it."

hotmail account, that's not my problem."

DOES THIS ACTUALLY happening?

Isn't the law the same for everyone to treat company PC as COMPANY and not YOURS?

Can I actually instal all I want?

I'm with MasterRacker - where I work IT Support is under-resourced, we simply don't have time to fiddle about on individual machines.

We have a selection of images for various machine types and user groups.

My approach is, if it's going to take more than 30 mins to fix, re-image it. OK warn the user about making sure all files are on the network. Ideally we image a machine from store and hold theirs for 30 days so we can retrieve any "missing" files.

Our policy is that no-one, except IT, is authorised to install anything on any PC. If there's a proven business need we'll install it and support it.
