CICS 8x8, 4.1. Flash 2 2.0

We had a couple of power fluctuations this past weekend. Client called Monday am stating that if they answered the phone the VM would be heard playing in the background. The weird part is that it wasn't the Company Greeting, but Ext 221's MB greeting. Verified that Greeting #1 is indeed intact. I checked all other programming and only after I rebooted that it returned to working normally.

This am he called again stating that now it was the Company Greeting playing in the background. When I got there I called in several times and it worked normally, then it started going to Ext 221's MB again. Rather than just rebooting the Flash, I also changed the power supply. No change this time.

Deleted then re-added MB 221. (When deleted, caller is told that the ext is unavailable). Verified settings in F982 (even changed Operator Status to/from available. Attendant is Ext 226.) Checked programming again in F983. Deleted all MB's except 222 & 226. Verified Attendant in AA settings as Ext 226.

I even started changing other settings to see if there was a difference. No luck, then I was about to give up for the day it started working properly again.

I think something got fried in the Flash...the main unit or the software? Doubt it has anything to do with the KSU.

If it happens again I plan on swapping out the Flash unless you have any ideas...

I will vote corruption and that a "reinstall" is in order.

I just had a similar call on Friday with AA not answering on the Flashtalk.
They said it just rang until it DRT'd to the prime set.
I walked them through AA/Lines and checked all line were Table 1 and Answer yes.
I said sometimes it needs a kickstart, maybe changing a setting from yes to no or vice versa.
I then had them go into F982 and to check for Business Open and Answer lines and just as we did that somebody else onsite was calling in with their mobile and said AA was now answering the lines.
I then called the other rollovers and all worked fine.

Dave,
Before you swap anything do a full default and re-install.

Thought of that Marv, but if I do & it still doesn't work properly I've wasted my time & their's. Still haven't called, so I'm praying it's cleared the fault. In the mean time, I'm pre-programming another one just in case...

I feel invisible, lol

As I mentioned "a reinstall is in order" but what I would do on return, quick steps....

Remove line/s from AA, delete MB221
Reboot mail
re-program AA to Y and add mailbox 221
test

If test fails...
Reinstall, record greeting #1 and add mailbox 221, assign line to AA and test, if all works then continue with the rest of your programming.

If it does not work then replace software.

Then cabinet replacement if needed.

Nothing here is a waste of time, what is a waste is replacing something that is most likely fine.
Bad practice is to replace more than one item as you will not know what the issue was.

Most of these issues are certainly software corruption, the hardware is dumb, it does what software tells it to do.

Words of wisdom.

To make it clear, IF I have to return & need to replace the unit, their unit will brought back to the workbench so I can play with it here....Spare unit is already pre-programmed. All they need to do is re-record the Company & AA Greetings, as well as initiate their mailboxes as they desire...

I returned Monday as I hadn't heard anything. Appears to be working fine now...
