I just moved a MICS with companion and I can`t get the companion to come back up. I am 100% sure I have wired all the components exactly the same way. I have 3 base stations and all of them have a solid red light on them. I`ve never worked on companion before so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Schlum,
Solid Red Light could mean several things. The book tells you it means the radios are busy or have not been assigned to a cell. What the book doesn't tell you is this: If you put + to + and - to - , and you are not using a Remote Power Interconnect, then do one of the following: Reverse the polarity and/or add the second power pair to increase the apparrant size of the wire to the base stations.

Good luck

on Companion phones some times you have to reconfigure the phones. If power is lost or if they are moved. Go back into the companion program and make sure all the information is still there. Also make sure the phone has the right registration actually just make sure its enabled. You may want to go under the radio password and make sure your cell is set up correctly. Its been a long time sense I've worked on companion phones. I hope this helps. I have a systems coordinators guide if you need a copy.

thanks

Thanks for the replies Phone Man and Norstargirl. It turns out all I had to do was a "re-evaluation" on it. Back up and running in a minute. I did have an RPI and I had tried the polarity idea on Friday to no avail. Just wish I reversed them both at the same time. Spark, spark. Whew, no damage...Thanks for the offer M.Parnell, but luckily I was able to find a MICS companion installer guide on the net. Nothing like taking something offline to force you to learn about it.
