I've got a few Compact Plus ICS Norstar Systems I have to test however, whenever I plug them in, all of the arrows on all of the phones flash. I've tried the screwdriver trick along with 4.1 and 6.1 software but still no luck. I've let the system sit overnight to make sure I was giving it enough time. Any idea on what else I could try to get some of these up and running?

You cannot upgrade to far or downgrade.

Put in the latest/later software or same software it once had.
Once it boots up do a system STARTUP within 15 minutes of power cycle, select any parameters you want, while it says Applying Template then pull the power, leave on shelf until needed.

Thats the problem, I dont know what software it once had. These came to me without any software cartrdiges. I guess I'll have to see if I can find some older versions and start from there.

You tried shorting the caps?

How many systems are you having an issue with btw?.

100ohm resistor on both capacitor leads for 30 seconds should do the trick.

Should be the last resort as you will suck some life out of them.

Yeah, I've already tried the screwdriver trick, and I'm having issues with 3 or 4 systems. These are all systems we purchased from a company going out of business so I'm not 100% sure that they worked in the first place. I just need to figure out if their working now, and as of now its not looking so good.

Yeah, I tried a known working flash card already, no dice. I'm going to chalk this up to being defective. Thanks for everyone's help.

You mean "I have shorted the caps".

But we don't know how long or what softwares you used.

One whom has all software may want to have a go at it.
Just seems strange to have 4 bads ones from same company.

From my initial post:
"I've tried the screwdriver trick along with 4.1 and 6.1 software but still no luck. I've let the system sit overnight to make sure I was giving it enough time."

I shorted out the caps for 30+ seconds. I've got access to almost every release of Norstar CICS software & these are not all from the same company. I have also tried a known working software card with no luck.

Ok I agree then if not same company.
In future if need, if it was a 1.0 in there at one time then you would need 2.0 ( 4.1. too far) to fire it up if avoiding the cap method.
I guess they are cheap enough now not to spend to much time on them.
