I am trying to compact a secure database. I am a member of the admins group and have full access to all objects. Yet everytime I try to compact the database if gives me a permission error.

Help - Please tell me what could be the problem?

Thanks.

PS - It used to work just fine.

This just started recently.

Have you tried using jetcomp.exe on this mdb? Robert Berman

No,

What is Jetcomp.exe?

Also, I was able to find the cause of the error. One record in two different tables has a field whose data was corrupted. I deleted that record and now it compacts just fine. I think I forgot to use lock edited record property which created the error. I have turned it on and have not gotten any newly corrupted data.

But, I am still interersted in this Jetcomp.exe to find out what it is and how to get it.

Thanks

Using MSKB, look up jetcomp under Access. It will give you two or three areticles telling what it does, how it works, and where to download it (free of course).
