Dear People,

I am thinking to upgrade my Amd Athlon 800 mhz with 133 mhz mainboard (VIA chipset) to Win 2000 Pro. The current Operating System is Windows 98.
However I am a bit worried about the lack of compability between Win 2000 and my hardware. I hope someone can help me with this and answer some questions. Just to be sure I will state my current hardware:

- AMD Athlon 800 mhz
- 128 MB RAM
- Asus Mainboard 133 Mhz, 200 Mhz Bus, VIA chipset
- 20.4 GB Maxtor Harddisk 7200 RPM
- GeForce 256 Ahniliator 32 MB (Creative)
- Soundblaster Live Oem 1024 (Creative)
- Current Operating System Windows 98

Thx for Reading,

Regards,

I am currently running Windows 2000 on an AMD Athlon Thunderbird 900 Mhz system with no compatibility problems.
The mobo is Asus A7V with Via chips and 133 MHz fsb. Two Maxtor 20 GB, 7200 RPM IDE hard drives with UDMA 100 interface on Promise Ultra 100 IDE controller. 256 Mb of Mushkin SDRAM running CAS 2 (7 ns). Also Creative Soundblaster live sound card.
Initial problem accessing Cd Roms on secondary IDE channel; however, Bios upgrade from Asus fixed that problem. Also running Kenwood 72X Cd Rom and Mitsumi TE4801 burner using drivers provided by Win 2000.

Thx for the anser.. So Windows 2000 is a go for me.

Thanks again,

Regards,
