Hi,

We are new in installing the version 7 on the s8300e. anyone has a manual for this or step by step. we are trying but can not start install

Where are you getting stuck? Avaya's Support site has deployment guides. Get AVP installed (CD + USB stick), deploy a utility server, then get the OVA deployed with SDM.

Randy,
I just noticed that there is a need of the Digistor DIG73322 for the install of the new S8300E.

We are trying to do the instlall now with a Lab equipment and so far no luck. it has SP 6.3, we followed instructions. made the cfg file, place cdrom and USB stick. But Are imagining that if we dont have the Digistor Drive in either platform the instal wont go thru.

I guess what we are missing is the right DVD drive, and that the only supported drive on any platform is the Digistor.

We will see how to get one from distributors.

thanks a lot

You definitely need the proper CD drive to install the AVP. Once AVP is installed you can do the rest over the network (or via CD if you wish).

Can you say more about exactly what is failing? The main thing to get right on the CD drive is one that is externally powered. The USB port does not have enough power alone to power most DVD drives. But if you got SP 6.3 installed from a DVD then I would think you could use the same DVD drive for the AVP install.

I am having the same issues. S8300E with the correct DVD drive. I have the DVD plugged into usb1 with the AVP platform disk inserted. I created the ks file and formatted my usb stick to fat32 and then put the ks file on usb. It is plugged into usb2. After booting server up I have waited over an hour. The the DVD never ejects. I do see some activity on the DVD and usb in the beginning, but after a few minutes nothing happens. I have tried new usb stick , new dvd drive, new 8300, I have regenerated the ks file, nothing works.

The most likely cause since you do have the correct DVD drive is the USB stick. Since you're installing to an S8300 it is difficult to troubleshoot since you don't have a console. Are you using the Avaya provided USB stick? You can follow these steps to be sure the USB stick is correct:

[ul]
[li]Insert the USB stick into your PC[/li]
[li]Run diskpart from command prompt[/li]
[li]list disk and carefully verify which drive is the USB (as opposed to your hard drive!). You can tell by the size reported which is which.[/li]
[li]select disk <n>, where <n> corresponds to the disk number reported for the USB[/li]
[li]detail disk Verify you've selected the correct disk. You don't want to format your hard drive![/li]
[li]clean This destroys all data on your USB stick[/li]
[li]create partition primary This creates a primary partition on the USB stick as required.[/li]
[li]format fs=fat32 quick[/li]
[li]exit[/li]
[/ul]

You may need to remove and reinsert the stick at this point so Windows sees it.

Not sure if its relevant, but can you share the USB stick you used? Is it a USB3 or 2 stick?

Though it's not supported, I've successfully installed AVP using an HP model: dvd550s usb drive. I initially had issues with the install, it would appear to install, but the DVD disk would not eject, but I swapped out the USB stick and then the install was successful.
