With windows 98 I was able to edit a registry/policy setting under 'local machine' to direct all users to a common favorites folder on the server. All users had full access to this folder. So far with Win 2000 I have been able to change a setting in "current users" which changes the path for that user, but as soon as a different person logs on they are directed to 'documents/settings etc'.

With a few hundred different logons it is impractical to log on as each person and change the setting.

Does anyone know of a local machine or genuine all user registry or policy setting that will solve this problem?

Thanks

You could use either Group Policies, or a KIX script running at startup.

Group Policies mean you can download templates (for want of a better word) from M$, and is slightly less intimidating than having to learn the KIX syntax (which, it must be said, is REALLY straightforward)

M$ site has details on implementing policies, while kixtart.org has lots of example scripts for you to look at.

Any help?

Gerard
