We are having problems creating an MDE in Access 2000. We converted a rather large MDB (36 meg) from access 97 to access 2000. While importing or converting certain forms objects we received and unkown ActiveX error. We are running Office 2000 and Office 97 on a Windows 2000 profesional platform. The control giving us problems is the common dialog control. We have service pack 3 installed also. We can run the application with out any problems. When we try to create an MDE we get the error "Unable to Create an MDE" with no explanation.

Thank You

First determine whether you have all references correct. With a module open in design view check the tools\references. If one says it is MISSING uncheck it and proceed on. Compile the application and if you get a compile error check the references again. If you don't have a reference to the Microsoft Common Controls you will need to add one and then recompile. After you get a clean compile you should be able to create a .mde file.

Try to resolve problems independently
Then seek help among peers or experts
But TEST recommended solutions

We tried that but it still would not compile. We feel there are differences in Common Dialog controls from 97 to 2000. I'll try your suggestion again and see.

Thanks

One other thing to try is this:

Go into the Access 97 database and press <CTRL>-G to open the immediate window. Now click on Debug->Compile and Save All Modules. If there is an error in the Access 97 version of the code, it will let you know here. --
