Dear experts,

How to backup a file which size is bigger than 3 Gig? This won't work with tar command.

or

Should I create a script that will compress this big file first then only backup it into a tape? If this is the only way, can anyone suggest a proper script?

Were you trying to tar to file or to a device (ie tape)?

Type #ulimit

if 2097151 ,file size can not large than 1G,then vi /etc/security/limits ,set content as list:

default:
fsize = -1
core = -1
cpu = -1
data = -1
rss = -1
stack = -1
nofiles = 2000

then relogin
type #ulimit
unlimited

that's ok.

The ulimit is already set to unlimited before.
