I only have a single IP Office instance - is there any way to launch Manager.exe and have it automatically select it?

In preferences, I already have "Auto connect on start up" selected, and I've experimented with the Discovery tab settings; I currently have the discovery IP range of only two IPs - the appliance, any the PC running IP Office Manager Pro.

That's the frustrating part - both the PC and appliance ARE on the same LAN... @#$%!

Same subnet/address range? Works fine for me and I never mess with the discovery options :)

Yes, same subnet:

Appliance = 192.168.42.1/24
Office PC = 192.168.42.2/24

So make sure the discovery window says 255.255.255.255 and out the discovery settings back to normal, if it still doesn't work it's probably your firewall/AV stopping it. It works every time for me as I find it annoying and turn it off (it defaults to on I beleieve) :)

I'm looking for a way for it to skip that initial screen (below) and just ask for the password.

In the Preferences --> Discovery tab, I have deselected DNS, UDP, and I have the IP range for just 192.168.42.1-192.168.42.2 so at least I don't have to wait for it to scan the whole subnet.

Put the settings back to default, it takes you straight to login, no need to pin it down as nothing is gained :)

Since there's no "revert" button/feature, would you mind sharing what options are ticked/selected in the first (Preferences) tab, and the third (Discovery)?

I can't as I'm on my way to the pub, while I know some stuff quite well, those fields and settings I don't know off the top of my head, someone else will no doubt be so kind as to reveal them :)

@amriddle01 - Thanks! Enjoy your weekend!

you should be able to just put in the 192.168.42.1 IP address in the discovery field and then close it again, shut down the manager and when you open it again it will try to connect to it.

You also want to make sure the you don't have any entries in the
File - Preferences - Discovery field

I just tried it on my system here and that works for me

If you save the config and it closes, when you go to open the config back up it will prompt you to select the system. If you start Manager fresh it should go straight to asking for the password.

I haven't found any way around the system prompt if you keep Manager open though.

In older managers you could use command line switches as this:
Manager.exe 192.168.43.1 password
and it would automaticly load the config from 192.168.43.1.

Nowadays I don't know, never tried it pass 2.1 software when the security was changed.

The Web Manager can launch Manager and it opens the right system config, so digging around there might show something about the syntax used (said from the comfort of a sofa nowhere near an IP Office system).

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Thanks Westi, WCeightoh, intrigant, and sizbut-

The Discovery tab in Preference now has nothing selected, and I input the switch's IP in the discover field. When I close Manager and start back up, I'm presented with this view (image, below), and the "Okay" button is greyed-out. If use the dropdown on the Unit/Broadcast address to select 255.255.255.255 and then go back and re-select the 192.168.42.1 IP, I am now presented with a username+password screen, but afterwards I'm presented the screen with the hyperlink lines.

Sizbut's comment gave me the idea to try adding "___\manager.exe 192.168.42.1" as well as "___\manager.exe 192.168.42.1:8443" with no luck.

Getting manager to run in a different language uses ".../manager.exe" -locale:it-IT , Show you need to be searching for something like -switch:192.168... or -pbx or -ipoffice or -host.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

I'll give that a whirl and report back!

Try this in Preferences:

This is what a brand new install of Manager is set like, it will find the IPO and offer you the login as soon as it launches. Which is one of the things that I turn OFF on every installation I do, because it drives me crazy
