Hi all

Ive had 2 months experience with TSM. Im running TSM windows and want to know is there a command I can execute that will tell me the current volumes loaded in the IO slots of our storage master. Instead of physically running down to check the slots.

Regards

TSM has no awareness of the I/O slots in your library other than when making changes to the library inventory (i.e. checking in/out volumes).

If I want to know what's in the slots in the library, I use either the library web interface (if available and sufficiently well-written) or the programs that come with the library device driver.

For example, on AIX with IBM LTO libraries, we have the fileset "Atape.driver". One utility shipped within this is "tapeutil":

$> tapeutil -f /dev/smc0 inventory > /tmp/tapes.out

will produce a location-by-location account of the contents of the library, including I/O slots, storage slots, and drives.

You can try below command to checkin the tape from IO.

checkin libv <library_name> search=bulk stat=<scr or pri> checkl=<barcode or yes>

Then you will kown what tape is in IO and the tape will checkin to the library.

Yes I have just discovered the web interface. PERFECT.... Thanks works a treat
