Combo Box

I have a combo box that looks up values from a table, and updates the form when an item from the combo box is selected.&nbsp;&nbsp;My question is as follows---when i type something into my combo box that does not appear in the combo box, why does it return me to the first record of my database---I did'nt necesarily want a fix, just an understanding of why it would do this instead of bringing up an error or something like that<br><br>i attempted to make a macro for the combo box in the not in list field but doesnt seem to really change anything---whats the deal with the &quot;not in list&quot; box???

Did you check the property &quot;Limit to List&quot;. If not, set it to &quot;Yes&quot;
