Hi,
I'm trying to use an Access database to make multiple choice and fill in the blank tests. Is there a way (to help save paper) to make columns in the footer only?

IE.

1. _____What is the capital of California?

A. Chicago C. Los Angeles
B. Sacramento D. San Francisco

2. _____ What is the capital of Montana?

I think you can get the idea....

Thanks for any help - Todd

It's difficult to determine without knowing your table structure. If the questions and answers are in parent and child tables, remove the child table from the report and place it in a multiple column subreport.

I have two tables tblQuestion and tblAnswer. Since there could be several answers to one question (correct and incorrect) in a multiple choice test, I created a relationship that is many to one.

Also, I tried a sub report placed in the footer consisting of answers to each question (which works but not with the columns).

Does this make sense?

Make sure the columns in the subreport go Across then Down.

Hi Duane,
Thanks for the help---- these are the table structures:

tblQuestion
QuestionId PK
Subject
Chapter
Lesson
Question

tblAnswer
AnswerId PK
QuestionId FK
CorrectAnswer (yes/no)
IncludeAnswer (yes/no)

The RptTestMultiChoi is linked to the child (RptAnswerBank) by (QuestionId)

The report is set up

Report Header
Page Header
Chapter Header
Lesson Header
Question Header
Detail
Question Footer - (location of sub-rept)
Lesson Footer
Chapter Footer
Page Footer
Report Footer

I tried to set the sub report to two (2) columns but it changes back to the settings of the Master report... 1 column.

I hope this helps Thanks again-
By the way, how's the grandson? -Todd

Is the table tblAnswer in the subreport only?
Is the subreport set to display across then down?
Is the subreport control width across the entire main report width?
How wide is the subreport compared to the main report width?

Grandson (Jackson, 13 months) is great! We are enjoying visiting with family over the holidays.

Hi Duane,
1. The Sub Report is referencing QryAnsBank: TblAnswer(*All fields), and TblQuestion (Question, Subject, Chapter, Lesson, Question)
2. No (Down then Across)
3. Yes
4. I made the sizes almost equal (sub report is slightly smaller)

13 Months:) Sounds like a a good holiday.....
Thanks again - Todd

2. No (Down then Across)

Go back to an earlier reply and note:

Make sure the columns in the subreport go Across then Down. [/red]

4. The actual detail width of the subreport should be one column wide. The subreport control on the main report should be X times wider.
