Hello Everyone,
I don’t know whether this is doable or not using Crystal. I have a report that prints out a report with two columns about businesses.

Business Name ***** Description ***
Address **** Phone Number ****
City **** Fax Number ******
State ****
Zip *****
Description ***

My problem is I want the report to keep each grouping in the column it started the grouping. Is it possible to make it to jump the whole grouping to the next column if it doesn’t have enough space in the first column?
I set the layout width size to 4 inch and the report is grouped by their business number.

If you used a text object and inserted your fields into that, then you could use the can grow function, then it would grow vertically. Otherwise, you mentioned groups, you could set the group properties to keep in same group, therefore trying to avoid spillage.

Also, if you used a text object you could set the suppress blank lines and that would suck up the blank lines giving more room for the other lines.

What version are you on?

I am using Crystal XI.. I want to the fields in red above to be printed together in the same column with the business name. I really appreciate this.
Thanks

Sorry I have also additional sub groups inside the main grouping. I just wanted to get the idea how to do this with the example I presented.

Dear Sim133,

This should work,

Group on Business Name, you can hide the group. In Group Options, Set Group to Keep Together.
Now, insert a detail section for each discrete piece of information, and in the section expert set it to suppress blank section.

Also, in the Section Expert notice you can set options for the Details section as a whole on each detail.

The suppress blank section should be on each individual detail.

Now, go to the Main Details Section and check the keep together box.

Hide the group header (make sure in the details section layout tab (you get that when you format with multiple columns), click the Layout tab and check the format Groups with Multiple colums checkbox.

A test shows that this works.

This is really great. I never thought that It would work like this. I really appreciate it. I have additional sub groups, I am thinking to create a sub report, and insert it in the detail section.
Thank you very Much
