I am having a problem getting a Color LaserJet 4500 back on its feet. The initial complaint was about a complete lack of color printing and often no black either. I resolved this by replacing CL2. Unfortunately, it still doesn’t print magenta – only the magenta is missing and it is always absent. I have eliminated the cartridge as a possibility, and the magenta slot in the carousel doesn’t appear to have a problem (shiny contacts, clean light pipes).

What’s special about magenta? Is it the first color laid on the transfer belt? Does it take considerably more energy to transfer magenta toner? There must be an explanation here somewhere, but I can’t see it. Can anyone enlighten me?

If you hav'nt, remove the carousel drives toner level PCB.
clean the contacts, or replace rg5-5247
Developing PCB is most likely. RG5-3811{xxg<} rG5-5180{xxH>}
