When looking at the stat elnk in ld 137, the collision counter is increasing gradually I have reloaded the option 11c and this reset the counter, but they have started again. The elan is on an isolated hub. Any suggestions to stop the collisions would be great.

Thanks

you might have a bad transciever or you're not as isolated as you think.

disconnect all devices on that hub and see if your collision still increase...if yes then its the hub/cable or tranciever...otherwise its one of the other devices that are also on that hub

that or a bad ethernet card.. i have had problems with customers using vlan isolation, bad enough to take the cp down.. it could be a bad hub as well

I have already changed the transciever to no avail, also i have incorperated a new hud with only e-lan traffic on it and the collisions keep increasing. Thanks for you input

On the OPT11, you might want to check the cable that goes from the P1 connector to the transciever...if you haven't already. The only other possibility would be a corrupted INET file or SSC card.

Thanks but this is a CS1000S chassis system there is no cable to the transciever, i will try the SSC card.

What all do you have connected to the hub? One thing would be to swap the hub out for a small 5 port switch (less than $25). A hub will retransmit all traffic to every port (emphasis on layer 1), where the switch is a little smarter (empahsis on layer 2)and builds an intelligent path to each port for specific traffic.

If there is a lot of ELAN traffic on the hub, simply putting in a switch may help.

Hope this helps,

Scott M.
