This is sort of long so you may want to sit down and drink some coffee while reading this.

First, About a month ago I had a Xerox Tech support rep come down and replace a feeder tray due to jamming. Ever since that day it seems that the "COLLATE" option has not worked. Before that day COLLATE function properly. This is important to me because, at times i print up to 30-60 copies of the same thing spanning from 10 pages to 100 pages.

Since COLLATE has not been working I have been separating the paper by hand. It sucks. I would print 2 or 3 out at a time then separate them. I have tried printer preferences and played around with the property settings in the printer and in the software (Word, Powerpoint....)

So, the other day I call for tech support and have the reps look at the printer, they have no clue what is wrong and tell me to call Xerox.

I call Xerox and I spoke with Product Support who could not help. They then transferred me to Hardware Support. The rep did a good job in assisting me but yet again he could not solve the problem. Then I was transferred to Software Support and they tried to help and then decided that it was a Microsoft Issue, not a Xerox Issue. The said I need to buy an external hard drive for the Phaser 740 (SCSI, IDE). But I told them that Collate was working 100% before and now it has no functionality. So now I have to call Microsoft, which I think will be a waste of time.

If any of you has advice on this situation please let me know.

thanks,
mike

Hi,

It seems very straightforward to me. The Collate function was working perfectly before the Xerox Tech support rep replaced the paper tray so the fault must have been caused by something the guy did when replacing the tray.

If I was you I would insist that he comes back and fixes the problem that he obviously caused and not take NO for an answer.

It seems incredible that you have put up with it for so long.

Just be assertive. Good Luck !

Adrian
