"Coinitialization has not been called"

Get this error trying to add an existing table to a database diagram in SQL Server. (Windows 2000, SQL Server 7.0)

Anyone else seen this?

Coinitialization is a COM instantiation routine. This is called when you do a CreateObject or whatever...

My guess is that it is having trouble instatiating an instance of SQL-DMO or SQL-NS when it is trying to perform your activity, or, some diagramming COM object. You may need to re-install SQL Server... I would check with Microsoft on this...

Also, check and make sure that all of your tables that begin with 'dt' (diagramming tool tables) are created in your database.

If I can think of anything else, I'll buzz in... Tom Davis

I ran into the same problem. To fix I reinstalled SQL
and the service pack then after that everything worked
fine. I think that sometimes this happens if you have
installed software programs after installing SQL and
its patch.
