cognos service

I am using Veritas backup exec to backup our cognos data, but believe the cognos service has to be stopped prior to backup....can anyone confirm this please...also does anyone know the service name ?? ie: net stop XXXXXXX.

As far as I know the only service you really need to stop is the PPES service and this name will change depending on the version you are using for 7.3 the name is

"Cognos PowerPlay Enterprise Server (cer4)"

you will need to check this in the list of services.
