I am a new user of Cognos Query. This is probably a pretty basic question, but can anyone tell me how I can use a wild card in my criteria? What will Cognos recognize as one, and where do I use it? Does it go in as an expression? Please Help!!
Thamks,

It sounds like you want to filter your criteria. All you need to do is add the field that you want to the query.

For example, say you wanted to find all the Smiths in your table. Add LastName to your query. Then click on the filter tab and do the following:

1. Double click on report columns.
2. Double click on Last Name.

Then you have a bunch of options, you can duoble click on CONTAINS and then double click on STRING and type Smith or
you can do STARTS WITH or the Equal marks.

Hope this helps.
