Cognos connection with 3rd party applications

Hello people, i'm not really an expert but i would like that someone could help me on this subject.

I would like to control the reports of cognos with any programming language, for instance Visual Basic (what it's used in the company where i work). The idea is that the report open in the VB application and, for some how, i'll be able to print or save it in the PC. The report opens in the browser but then the problem is how to save/print automatically (with the user goes there to click in the disk or printer), as the report is generated in PDF.

Any idea for this or any helpful tip to do this?

Well, you can use the IBM Cognos SDK to develop custom applications.

It would take too much time and space to go into details here but there are a lot of Technote documents available on the IBM support site showing samples.

There are also samples provided with the SDK component itself.

Keep in mind, that the SDK is a separate license you have to buy to be able to download and install it.

Of course there is a way to run an imr and have it saved in your desired format file!
