Cognos 8 without date functions

Hi there,

just started with Cognos 8 Report Studio I am already facing some basic problems: all I would like to do is to show the current year. I tried with to_char(sysdate(), 'YYYY'), but that does not work and I cannot find any Cognos functions - I remember that there were year(), month() etc. functions in Impromptu, where have these gone???

Hi there,

I have just figured out the solution: what I had done wrong was to use a ',' instead of a ';' between the date and the format 'YYYY' - now it works perfectly well

Another solution using Cognos 8 functions would be:

extract(year, current_date)
