Cognos 8 Tree Prompt?

When I create a multi-select tree prompt, I would expect that selecting a parent node would also select all child nodes, but it's not working that way - I have do dive down and select all child nodes I want to include. Is there a way to change the default behavior?

Hey, you need a cascading filter with the characteristic: send automatically. Try it.

Can you give me a little more detail, like cascade from what to what?

Hey, you can find it also in the cognos user guide (p. 75; 81).

For example: Countries with products (not all products are in each country!)

Country A: Prod 1, Prod 2, Prod 3
Country B: Prod 1
Country C: Prod 2

In addition you need two Prompts:
Prompt “Country” with the propertie „automatically send”
Prompt “Product” with the propertie “cascading” to prompt “Country”

Result: If you select the first prompt “country B “, then the second prompt may indicate only to product 2.
