Cognos 8.0?

Our shop is currently on Cognos 7.3MR2 for Impromptu, Impromptu Web Reports, Powerplay, Powerplay Enterprise Server, and Upfront.

Does anyone know of any plans by Cognos for an 8.X version of this series? Or is everything being shoehorned into a ReportNet type platform?

I have heard unconfirmed scuttlebutt from some Cognos employees about a planned Series 8 suite. No details though.

what I heard is the transformer is going to be removed. instead it all going to be a framework manager kind of structure for designing cubes! would be interesting to see that. but i love transformer!!!

Just got a letter this morning from Cognos, trumpeting the launch of "Cognos 8 Business Intelligence" on 14th September. It mentions beta customers, so chances are there's some TT members who know more....

Wonder why Cognos is being so hush hush about it. Seems like they'd let their user base know where they're going as early as possible, unless they're trying to squeeze every last dime out of the 7.0 suite.

We just had a person return from training and the scuttlebutt there was also sometime in September. Anybody else have additional info?

but I think this is pretty puch all that's being made available at the moment. Even if there are members on TT who know more, I'd imagine they will be under the confines of very strict Non Disclosure Agreements which prevent them from passing on what they know before the release date...

mfgf is right, i have seen series 8 and it is looking good!!!
The non disclosure papers are to make sure the competition will not get detailed information about series 8, after the official release.
