Has anyone had any experience with this tool?

It's called Docuvisn and supposedly will document your entire Cognos platform for you (getting documentation about our Cognos system has been tedious to say the least; configs, tables used, field calculations, links in Upfront, etc.).

It's priced about $18K so before we buy, I'd like to see if any of you have used it before.

Thanks all.

Keep in mind that if you do buy it, it is NOT a suppored Cognos application so you'd be on your own unless Envisn support is available for you.

I seem to recall Envision being at the last North American Cognos User Conference in Florida back in early June of this year. I spoke with them briefly. They seemed to have a good product, but I'd want a lot more info before I forked out $18K.

Yes, if there is one thing that I have to agree with then it is what flex13 said. If Cognos does not support someting then you are on youre own, trust me I talk from experience. Hoever, they do seem to advertise themselves as a Cognos partner so maybe you should just check with them. The one thing that I have also learned from Cognos and their partners is that they are very expensive. Sometimes its better and cheaper to use an alternative like Microsoft Visio. Sometimes it is just not worth the money although Cognos is a good product :)

Hi all,

For information, we have bought I-Assistant for Impromptu from Intregrated Solutions which is much more cheaper (2k$) and we are very happy with it because you can really do deep analysis on reports & catalogs.

Graham.
