trying to change the codec on autoattendant extended services version 3.5(2). i know from the documentation that you can select it while doing the install. but im not seeing that when im doing the install.. all its asks for really is my password. can anyone help..everything works properly. right now ccm4.0(2) is using g711. but i want to change it to g729. this is where the issue comes up..

waiting for a favourable response..thanks a lot.

Not too familiar with changing codecs, since I've never had to (we use g711), but I'll give it a shot...

Do you want to change the codec on all of your voice calls...? I'm a little unclear on that...you don't use locations/regions or anything like that in CCM, do you? Can you tell me a little bit about your cluster/gateway setup (CCM version, etc.)?

Did find this on the Cisco web site:

"The default audio codec for all calls through Cisco CallManager specifies G.711. If you do not plan to use any other audio codec, you do not need to use regions."

Okay, looks like that last statement is correct. If you only have one region (the Default region that is automatically created in CCM), and all your devices are assigned to it via their Device Pool, g711 is automatically assigned to that default region.

However, it looks like you can change the default region's codec (CCMAdmin - System - Region). So, if you need to change all the phone's default codec, it looks like you can do it through there...although, as I said, I've never had to change it for our setup, and I don't really know if that's what you're getting at without more info...

ok guys

dont laugh..i got through...yeah i know you can change the codec in ccm region, but i was installing the extended services cd that gives me AA. but, that cd only allows me to go with g711. i was basically installing the wrong AA..hehe..i had to use the AA that comes with the ipcc express and that allows me to change..so everything is working good. i could have however, used transcoding but that was not an option...thanks again..ive got a few more questions ill be posting so bear with me..its my first real IPT implementation.
